SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy

Effective date: August 3, 2026

What is HelixResponse?

HelixResponse is a missed-call recovery platform used by local service businesses (plumbers, electricians, HVAC companies, etc.). When a customer calls a business that uses HelixResponse and the call is not answered, the platform sends an automated text message to the caller on behalf of that business.

How End-Users Opt In (Call to Action)

End-users (consumers) opt in to receive SMS messages by voluntarily placing an inbound phone call to a business that uses HelixResponse. The act of calling the business serves as the consumer's consent to receive a text message response. This is a single-purpose, transactional opt-in: the consumer initiated contact with the business, and the text message is a direct response to their call.

No purchase is required. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase or service.

Opt-In Flow (Step by Step)

  1. A consumer finds a local business (e.g., on Google, a yard sign, a website, or a referral) and calls the business phone number.
  2. The business is unable to answer the call (busy, after hours, on a job site, etc.).
  3. HelixResponse detects the missed call and sends a single automated text message to the caller from the business phone number. The message identifies the business by name and offers to help.
  4. The consumer can reply to the text to continue the conversation, or ignore it. If the consumer replies, they may receive additional follow-up messages related to their inquiry.

Sample Messages

Initial missed-call text:

"Hi, this is Hampton Roads Plumbing. Sorry we missed your call! How can we help you today? Reply STOP to opt out."

Follow-up message (if no reply after 24 hours):

"Hi, just following up from Hampton Roads Plumbing. Still need help? We're happy to assist. Reply STOP to opt out."

Message Types & Frequency

  • Initial missed-call response: 1 message, sent within 60 seconds of a missed call.
  • Follow-up messages: Up to 4 follow-up messages over 7 days if the consumer does not reply. Sent only during business hours (8 AM — 9 PM in the business's timezone).
  • Review request: 1 optional message after service is completed, asking the consumer to leave a Google review.
  • Total maximum: Up to 6 messages per interaction.

Opt-Out Instructions

Consumers can opt out of messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Upon opting out:

  • A single confirmation message is sent: "You have been unsubscribed. No more messages will be sent. Reply START to resubscribe."
  • No further messages are sent from that business number.
  • All pending follow-up messages are cancelled immediately.

Help

Consumers can reply HELP to any message to receive assistance. They will receive a response with contact information:

"HelixResponse messaging service. For help, contact hello@helixresponse.com or visit helixresponse.com/sms-consent. Reply STOP to opt out."
